Piedmont Scarecrow Walk

It’s Fall and you know what that means … Scarecrows!

The Joker and his friends surround Batman.

The Joker and his friends surround Batman.

To make autumn a little more festive, the Piedmont Arts Fund and Piedmont Makers are putting on a socially-distanced Scarecrow community art and maker event.

Families and pods are invited to make scarecrows for their front yards. This year’s theme is CALIFORNIA DREAMING, because we could all use a little optimism and creative cheer.

To participate, make a scarecrow with your family or pod and have it in your front yard by Saturday, October 24.

Post a picture of your scarecrow on your Facebook or Instagram page and tag #PiedmontScarecrowWalk2020. We’ll be posting scarecrows here and on our Instagram and Facebook sites.

Play Scarecrow Bingo with your family!

Print out the Scarecrow Bingo card that we’ll post on Sunday, October 25. Then take a Scarecrow Walk through Piedmont and fill out your card. Bring your completed card to Mulberry’s between October 26 and October 31 to receive a Scarecrow treat (limit one per person).

Want to make a Scarecrow but aren’t sure where to start?

Piedmont Makers can help! They’re making a limited number of Maker Scarecrow Stands.  Stands need to be ordered by Thursday, October 8, and will be available for pickup in Piedmont on Saturday, October 17.

We love creating and making new scarecrows, but we also love sustainability and recycling. If you have an old scarecrow in your garage or basement, pull it out, dust it off, and give it a little California spirit. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Need some inspiration? Here are some scarecrow ideas to get you started.
